01 Learner
Introductory lesson
The first lesson is not about distance covered. It sets the seat, the mirrors and the hands before the car leaves the kerb.
Lesson one starts at the pick-up address, not on the road. We set the seat and mirrors properly, walk through the pedals and the indicator stalk, and get the hands into the nine and three position before the handbrake comes off. Most of the lesson happens on quiet residential streets close to the pick-up point, at a pace set by the learner, not the clock.

02How it runs
Step by step, in this order
Every lesson: 60 min. You always know which part you're on.
- 01 Set the seat, mirrors and headrest at the pick-up address
- 02 Walk through the pedals, indicator and dual controls before moving
- 03 Set hands at nine and three and pull away on a quiet street
- 04 Drive a short residential loop, correcting hand position as needed
- 05 Sign the logbook and set the plan for lesson two
Do I need any experience before the first lesson?
No. Most learners have never driven before lesson one, and the whole hour is built around that.
Where does the first lesson happen?
On quiet residential streets close to the pick-up address. We do not take a first lesson anywhere near a main road or a roundabout.
Does a parent need to be there?
Not for the lesson itself, though plenty sit in the back seat for the first one. It is entirely up to the learner.
